The Overarm Throw

This is best for covering long distances. The body should be in line with the direction of the throw and the weight on the back foot. The ball should be brought forward in a bowling action with the arm straight. The ball should be released at the top of the overarm swing, as the body weight shifts to the front foot.

The Javelin Throw

This throw is made quickly with a flat trajectory. The arm is bent for this throw; the ball is held beside the head and the body is in line with the direction of the throw. The arm is brought forward in a pushing movement with the ball being released at the top.

The Goal Kick

The ball is struck with the top, inside edge of the foot. Contact is made through the bottom half of the ball, with the non-kicking foot alongside the ball, six to nine inches away. The head is steady and looking down at the ball. The target areas are the channels between the centre-back and the full-back on either side.
